This 125mm inner diameter x 180mm outer diameter seal is designed for major rotating interfaces, such as the final output shaft of the drum drive gearbox, the slewing ring of the mixer, or the shafts of large hydraulic pumps and motors.

Heavy-duty, large-bore radial shaft seal (oil seal) for mixer truck applications. We provide full custom manufacturing based on dimensions, material, and lip configuration requirements.

We deliver a complete sealing solution. This can include the primary seal, an integrated dust lip, a PTFE or specialized coating on the sealing surface, and complementary components like matching wear sleeves or back-up rings for the most demanding applications.

Special Operating Conditions & Critical Failure Prevention

Mixer seals operate in what is arguably one of the most punishing environments for any sealing component.

Abrasive Contamination - The #1 Enemy: Concrete dust is highly abrasive. Once it penetrates the seal's dust lip (or primary lip), it acts as lapping compound, rapidly wearing down the seal lip and scoring the shaft.

Defense Strategy: Employing a robust, contacting secondary dust lip is non-negotiable. For extreme environments, specifying a PTFE-layered radial lip seal or a labyrinth-style seal in combination with a primary seal can extend life dramatically. Case Study: A fleet operating in a desert region switched from standard double-lip seals to our units with a proprietary, grit-deflecting lip geometry and PTFE coating. They recorded a 300% increase in seal life on drum drive output shafts, from an average of 1,200 hours to over 3,600 hours, simply by keeping abrasives away from the primary sealing contact zone.

Shaft Eccentricity and Runout: The massive, cantilevered load of a mixer drum can cause shaft deflection and runout at the sealing point. This dynamic movement "pumps" the seal lip, accelerating wear and causing leaks.

Design Countermeasure: For applications with known runout (>0.5mm TIR), a seal with a wider, more flexible sealing lip or a spiral spring design that maintains contact under dynamic conditions is required. It is also critical to inspect and, if necessary, install a hardened steel wear sleeve on the shaft to provide a new, perfectly round sealing surface, protecting the original shaft from damage.

Chemical and Temperature Attack: Hydraulic fluids and gear oils operate at high temperatures, and external cleaning with harsh chemicals is common.

Material Selection Protocol: For temperatures consistently above 100°C or for exposure to certain synthetic oils, NBR is insufficient. FKM (Viton®) is the mandatory choice. It resists temperatures up to 200°C+ and a wider range of chemicals. Always verify elastomer compatibility with the specific fluids in the system.

Critical Maintenance & Installation Procedures:

Shaft and Bore Preparation - The Foundation of Success: This is the most critical step. The shaft sealing surface must be polished, free of nicks, rust, or old seal grooves. A worn shaft necessitates a wear sleeve. The housing bore must be clean, smooth, and free of burrs. Any imperfection will cut the seal or prevent a proper press-fit.

Correct Installation Tools and Technique:

NEVER hammer a seal directly into place. Always use a seal driver tool of the correct diameter to apply force evenly to the outer metal case, not the rubber.

Ensure the seal is pressed in squarely. A cocked seal is a leaking seal from the moment of installation.

Protect the seal lip during installation. Use an installation sleeve or tape over sharp shaft threads and keyways to prevent cutting or nicking the delicate sealing lip.

Lubrication at Installation: Always lubricate the seal lip and garter spring with the same fluid it will seal before sliding it over the shaft. Dry installation can cause immediate damage to the lip.

Post-Installation Break-in: After installation, if possible, run the shaft at low speed for a short period to allow the seal lip to thermally adjust and establish its wear pattern.
