2. Description

The ME300199 piston pin ring is a circular retaining clip that secures the piston pin inside the piston boss. Manufactured from hardened spring steel with a corrosion-resistant coating. This ring snaps into an internal groove machined into the piston pin bore. It prevents lateral movement of the piston pin, keeping the pin centered between the piston and connecting rod small end. Fits Mitsubishi Fuso 6D16, 6D16T, 6D17, and 6D17T diesel engines. Common failure includes ring fatigue, breakage, or loss of tension during engine disassembly. Worn or missing rings allow the piston pin to contact the cylinder wall, causing scoring. Replace all rings when rebuilding pistons or replacing piston pins.

Installation Method: Use dedicated piston pin ring pliers. Insert one end of the ring into the piston groove. Rotate the ring while pressing until fully seated. The ring ends must not overlap.
